01
Read the approved plans before scheduling
Before calling an inspection, finish the stage, clear access, confirm required tests, and check that work to be viewed is still exposed. Covering it early can create rework.
Review the inspection card and drawing notes with the superintendent and trade responsible for the work. Confirm required tests and documents before requesting the visit.
02
Leave required work open and accessible
Corrections should be recorded, assigned, completed, and rechecked. A field change may need design or City review before the inspector can accept it.
Clear stored material, provide safe access, and do not cover framing, reinforcing, piping, wiring, or insulation that still needs inspection. Premature cover creates avoidable rework.
03
Close corrections while the stage is active
Final closeout can include outstanding corrections, equipment information, testing, site restoration, and applicable signoffs. Treat it as planned work, not an afterthought.
Photograph and assign each correction. If the fix changes an engineered or approved detail, obtain the necessary design or City response before calling for reinspection.
04
Plan the final walk as part of the job
Finish site repair, equipment startup, labels, remaining corrections, and applicable documents before treating the ADU as ready to hand over.
