Central Anaheim historic districts
The City identifies Anaheim Colony, Five Points, Historic Palm, and Hoskins as four distinct historic districts. A property inside one of those areas can require a closer look at records and the relationship between new work and the existing home.
Use the City map and parcel information for the address. The neighborhood name by itself cannot establish historic status or determine an ADU application.
- Anaheim Colony
- Five Points
- Historic Palm
- Hoskins
02
West, Central, and East Anaheim
Broad parts of Anaheim contain many different home ages, lot layouts, garages, additions, utility arrangements, and access conditions. The area pages provide a starting checklist while keeping the decision at the parcel.
A yard that looks open can still contain easements, drainage, walls, pools, planting, or a long sewer route. An old garage can hide more rebuilding than new construction.
03
Urban districts and specialized planning contexts
Downtown Anaheim, the Platinum Triangle, the Anaheim Resort area, and Anaheim Canyon have different mixtures of residential and nonresidential land. Confirm the existing dwelling, zoning, ownership, and rights before assuming a normal single-family ADU path.
Shared access, common utilities, association control, commercial activity, and tighter staging can matter on some properties. Those facts need documents, not guesses.
04
Anaheim Hills and properties with grade
Grade, retaining walls, drainage, longer driveways, vegetation, and mapped hazard questions can change design and construction. They do not apply equally to every east-side address.
Bring wide site photos, surveys, reports, and association information when available. A field visit can then focus on the conditions that affect the work.
